“It’s not that serious” is a piece in silence. It engages with concepts of the gaze, surveillance, power dynamics (in mimicking), gesture, repetition, and absurdity. It is a series of exploration on the movements I observed from my daily life gestures. In the studio, I experimented the composition and layering with the cast, allowing familiar gestures to transform through accumulation and variation. I was also interested in creating sound from the movements, so I explored the rhythm and texture in time and space by choreographic composition alone.
